February is Black History Month, and this year’s theme is Black Resistance. To continue learning about and honouring Black Canadians’ contributions and amplifying their voices, we will be sharing the stories of some of our volunteers, who we are so lucky to count on.

Meet Angela Adediran, Grocery Store Fundraising Lead Volunteer!

Angela started volunteering with us in the fall of 2017. She first heard about The Mississauga Food Bank through her workplace.

“There was a food drive event at my work which prompted me to seek how to continue contributing to my community.”

Having received support from an organization like The Mississauga Food Bank in the past makes Angela feel more grateful and committed to volunteering.

“I’m very grateful for where I am today. I believe that being part of this organization and the volunteers’ team has positively impacted the lives of those who need it the most.”

Angela loves that The Mississauga Food Bank continuously embraces diversity and inclusion and provides opportunities for youth to channel their energy towards a positive cause. She also thinks the organization must use its platform to amplify Black voices.

“The Mississauga Food Bank is a great platform to amplify Black voices because Black Lives Matter! And because food brings people together. It’s important to highlight our representation in the collective effort to give hope to those in need in our community.”

Angela, thank you for everything you do for your community!
