Meet Daisy Yiu, Marketing & Communications Manager
Today we are shining the spotlight on Daisy Yiu, our Marketing & Communications Manager! 🤍
Daisy joined the team this past March, but she has been volunteering with The Mississauga Food Bank since 2019! For Daisy, the most rewarding part of her job is being able to see the positive impact that The Mississauga Food Bank’s work has in the community. “To hear from our food bank users directly and how we’re helping them and making a difference in their lives is incredibly heartwarming. It’s real change that you get to see in real time, and I feel very lucky to have contributed in any way.”
Daisy’s most impactful experience has been the Virtual Supporter Appreciation Party that we hosted last June. “We had so many supporters in our community join us that evening. There were insightful discussions and so many comments on how much they learned about our programs like AquaGrow Farms and ReclaimFRESH. Such a positive and uplifting evening to show our supporters how much we appreciate them, and are continually grateful for all the ways they show up for their community!”
Her greatest challenge right now is raising awareness around feeding our hungry neighbours this summer. “I know that in Canada, we treasure our summer months since they’re short and fleeting, so we tend to go into ‘vacation mode’. But as our End Summer Hunger campaign says – “Hunger doesn’t take a summer vacation.” It’s vital that we continue to help those who are most vulnerable in our community and make sure they have access to healthy and appropriate food all summer long.”
